Announcing Parliamentary Blog
More observant visitors to Dan Lynch Online may have noticed yesterday the appearance of a new link in the Features section of the sidebar: Parliamentary Blog. This new link represents two new and interesting projects for me.
First, it represents a decision to create a second blog, one which is far more focused in topic than this one. That topic will of course be parliamentary procedure, and to my knowledge it is the only parliamentary procedure blog on the entire Internet. There a few other sites that could be loosely classified as forums, and a large number of static pages belonging to other parliamentarians, but nothing like the chronological content of a blog.
The second project represented here is my decision to start my own small business as a consultant in the field of parliamentary procedure. This won’t be fully executed until the new year, which is when I plan to officially launch my business, but there are hints about it on the site, and I certainly wouldn’t turn down a client if one were to approach me with an offer of work. The blog will be tightly integrated with my electronic shingle, which currently does not really exist.
As of the time and date of this posting, I have added three entries to Parliamentary Blog, one of which is administrative and two of which are substantial. One of the substantial articles is targeted at beginners, and the other is more advanced, assuming a firm grasp of the basics on the part of the reader. I plan to add several more over the course of the week, and then see where things go from there.
I know that most of my regular readers are unlikely to find this new blog all that exciting, but I encourage everyone to at least check it out once or twice. I’m sure that most of you are members (or even officers) of various clubs and associations, and could probably benefit from the kind of information I’ll be posting. And certainly, if you had a particular (reasonably general) question about parliamentary procedure I’d be more than willing to devote a blog entry to exploring it.
